After losing my installation disk for Visio 2007, I looked online for a replacement. You would think -- simple little program, part of office -- should cost $50 or so ? Nope. Being sold for $500+. If you google visio, you get links to "visio replacements", who (for example) want you to go on a subscription program for $20/mo. Not quite what I had in mind.
It turns out that Libre Office 5.0 (which is free) reads Visio 2007 files, and does quite a nice job. It does not write vsd files, just the funky libra-office format, but hey -- I just saved $500.
