Microsoft Academic validation -- 2014

Well -- yet another sad Microsoft story.

As I am a Professor at several Universities, I attempted to purchase the Microsoft 365 office suite, academic version-- thinking that being a Professor should be good enough.

This appears to be a "bait and switch" situation.

It is easy to "sign up" for the Microsoft academic 365 suite. It downloads and installs without a problem. The difficulty is in confirming that you are an academic person. It is not enough to use an email that ends in the name of your University. They do not want my academic ID.

Microsoft, wanted me to EDIT THE DNS RECORDS FOR MY UNIVERSITY SERVER.

Nobody in his right mind would edit their University's DNS records, and potentially bring down the entire University (even if they could).

Clever Microsoft.
